The joint Czech and German DFG-funded FERDINAND project had its kick-off on November 26th, 2010. The project is named after the founder of science-based mechanical engineering: Ferdinand Redtenbacher.

FERDINAND is a joint project between the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the Charles University in Prague (CU). The project is funded by the German Research Foundations (DFG) in a joint research program with the Czech Science Foundation (GA CR) and aims at further driving computer science towards an engineering discipline. The kickoff meeting of the three year project was held in November 2010.
